Holiday Challenge: 100% Handmade (and Made in the USA)

The holidays are creeping up on us and I’m slightly nervous – I haven’t bought one gift yet. Usually by this time of year I have a healthy idea of what kind of gift to get for people. This go round I have my list of people, but a lot of question marks next to their names.

Why am I having such a tough time? Because this year I’ve decided to challenge myself: I am buying everyone a handmade present; something that’s meaningful, that can be treasured and (most importantly) is made right here in the good ol’ US of A. I actually have to put some thought into this and figure out what would that person really cherish instead of kinda like.

Last year more than half of my gifts were handmade and I was pretty proud of my finds. But this year I can’t buffer the other half of my hard-to-buy-for people with trips to a techie store to buy DVDs or the latest gadget. I’ll keep you posted on my progress in future blog posts (and maybe I’ll include some awesome finds).

So, what do you think – are all (or at least most) of your gifts this holiday season going to be crafted by American hands?
