aftcra Nominated for Martha Stewart’s American Made Awards

aftcra's nominated for Martha Stewart's American Made Awards 2015

For the past three years, the team at Martha Stewart has curated makers from across the US with the American Made Awards, and this year aftcra has been nominated! You can check out aftcra’s American Made Awards profile here. Not only are we incredibly excited to be a part of this esteemed group of handmade talent, we are so happy to be a part of a program that truly aligns with our mission at aftcra – to support and promote local handcrafters, artisans and makers within the USA.

The American Made Awards is a great program that honors makers within six categories: Crafts, Design, Food, and Style. Within each of these categories are sub-categories that dive deeper into different types of craftsmanship, whether it be fashion, pottery, or agriculture.

The Martha Stewart Living team serves as judges (alongside Martha, who acts as head judge), and weeds through all of the American Made Awards nominations to select 1,000 makers who are considered finalists. Out of the 1,000 makers, only 10 will be award winners for the American Made Awards – nine judge’s selections and one audience choice.

Nominations are open through August 29, 2014, and you can nominate organizations (or yourself) here. Judges will select the finalists up until September 8, 2014 and voting for one of the prizes ten American Made Awards winner spots will occur from September 15 – October 13, 2014. American Made Awards winners will be announced on October 17, 2014.

This has been an incredibly exciting program in the past, and just browsing through the categories you will find yourself inspired by the amount of talent within the US. We encourage you to check out the American Made Awards nominees, watch and ultimately vote on your favorite organizations.
